As write this, I sit in Corkscrews & Brews located at 208 23rd St. Suite 300 in Newport News, VA.

I've been to this place a few times and I love it.

It's unique because it has something I've never seen in a coffee shop around here...

Wine. 🍷

Yes, Wine!

When I come here to study, I can have a hot cup or a cool glass.

A vibe comes from being a lady with a coffee next to her, clacking away at a laptop. I love it when that lady is me.

At this point, I am coffee.

I often dress in brown outfits with brown lipgloss slapped on and a dust of brown eyeshadow.

I feel the atmosphere of Corkscrews & Brews amplifies that essence.

It feels delightfully Black in here, and I love that.

The atmosphere here represents what they do well. I see deep purple-reddish paint on the walls, I hear R&B music, Jazzy smooth, alternative, funky and chill bops from artists like:

Kali Uchis,

Omar Apollo,

SZA,

Ravyn Lenae,

Hiatus Kaiote,

The Internet,

Willow Smith,

Ojerime, and Cleo Sol.

Let's talk about the food.

First of all, they have a menu of food items beyond pastries: I love it when a coffee shop has that.

It lets me know that I'm invited and that I'm welcome to stay a while (why do I have to leave when there's food?).

Corkscrews & Brews, thank you for the vibes. Thanks for the music, a corner I can study in, food, coffee, and wine. ❤️☕🍷.
